NECK Pain AND HERNIATED DISC

Pain located in the neck is a common medical condition. Neck or cervical pain can come from a number of structures and/or tissues in the neck. Examples could be  degenerative disc disease, neck strain, whiplash, a herniated disc, or a pinched nerve. Neck pain can also come as a result of different infections, such as osteomyelitis and meningitis (often accompanied by neck stiffness). Neck pain can also come from conditions that affect the different muscles of the neck such as fibromyalgia and torticollis.

What are other symptoms that are associated with neck pain?
Neck pain is commonly associated with dull aching. Sometimes pain in the neck is worsened with movement of the neck or turning the head. Other more complicated symptoms include numbness, tingling, tenderness, sharp shooting pain, weakness of the arms or hands and difficulty swallowing. in some cases it could also be associated with headache and shoulder pain,

A cervical herniated disc (a slipped disc) is one of the more common cervical spine conditions. Although a cervical herniated disc may originate from some sort of trauma or injury to the cervical spine, the symptoms commonly start spontaneously.

The arm and hand pain starts as a result off the herniated disc material "pinches" or presses on a cervical nerve, causing pain to radiate down following the compressed nerve route. Along with the arm pain, numbness and tingling can be present down the arm and into the fingertips. Muscle weakness may also be present due to a cervical

How is cervical disc herniation diagnosed?
A doctor usually can diagnose a herniated disc from your history of symptoms and a physical exam. If other conditions are suspected, or if there is no improvement in symptoms after a period of rest and rehab, imaging tests such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or computerized tomography (CT scan) may be done.

If you are experiencing pain or numbness in the neck, arm or hand you could be suffering from a herniated disc. At SPINOUS Dr. Amidror will use innovative procedures to accurately diagnose your condition and then he would implement the  non-surgical spinal decompression procedure to alleviate the excruciating pain causing by your herniated disc.
